Studio Jan Henrik Hansen website
After a major redesign in 2010, this is the second iteration of the website for Studio Jan Henrik Hansen in Zurich, Switzerland.
The focus was on absolute reduction to the minimum and a user interface that scales down into the “background” as much as possible. The focus are clearly the images of the very striking sound sculptures, which are all displayed in full frame format.
The original website was based on a fullscreen concept back when responsive web design was still largely unused and unintentionally the website scaled down beautifully to iPhone and iPad with almost no alterations.
The website is based on WordPress 3.4, with almost every part of the theme and admin section heavily modified by me. The grid on the front page of the website is a custom written jQuery script, which – unlike others – scales the thumbnails in a way that they follow an “ideal aspect ratio” and are scaled so that full rows and columns are always displayed. Yes, sometimes math is also part of designing.
